The Sycamore is a huge tree spanning 75-90’ both tall and wide with a pyramidal crown- one of the largest hardwood trees in diameter! The bark appears to have layers with a dark brown color on the outside and a lighter color inward. In the spring, small flowers cluster along the branches along with tiny, winged seeds. Due to its size, plant this tree in an area where there’s plenty of room to grow such as in a parking lot, highway median, or large yard. This American classic has a rapid growth rate and is tolerant of wet and compact soil.
