Exclamation!® London Planetree is a striking large shade tree with a strong central leader and a uniform, upright pyramidal form. Its foliage is medium green and deeply palmately lobed, creating a dense canopy of shade in summer. As the tree matures the bark peels in large plates, revealing a mottled pattern of cream, tan, brown, and green tones that give winter interest even when the tree is bare. Compared to many planetrees, Exclamation!® produces very little fruit which makes it cleaner underfoot. Its fall color tends toward yellow or coppery-bronze before leaf drop.

Plant Exclamation!® in full sun for best form and performance. It’s adaptable to many soil types, including compacted soil, clay, and slightly alkaline soils. While it tolerates drought and brief periods of wetness, regular watering when young helps it establish a strong root system. Mulching around the base is helpful to retain moisture, suppress weeds, and protect against soil temperature fluctuations. This tree has been bred for disease resistance (notably to anthracnose) and for resistance to frost cracking, reducing maintenance needs. Prune as needed for structure, especially during early life to support its upright pyramidal habit.
