WOW power is no problem for this Itoh selection of Peony. Like all Itoh selections, 'Julia Rose' is the result of a cross between a herbaceous Peony and a Tree Peony that gives you a plant that behaves like a herbaceous variety in the garden while providing you the over the top bloom of a Tree Peony. 'Julia Rose' lives up to the Itoh promise as deep green, shiny leaves inhabit bunches of upright growing stems that form a rounded bush in the garden that tops itself with outlandishly sized buds starting in early May. The buds open to huge, soft apricot colored, semi-double flowers with a showy, frilly ring of yellow stamens at bloom center and blushing purplish-red petal tips. It is a look that will melt your heart especially when you add in each blooms sweet, spicy aroma. 'Julia Rose' thrives in sun and in a spot that has deep, moist, well drained soil. Make sure you cut a bud or two to bring in the house for a long lived, cut flower!

Easily grown in fertile, medium moisture, well-drained soils. Performs best in full sun to partial shade. Before planting, add compost to soil. Remove past blooms. Cut foliage to the ground in fall. Plants are long-lived, but do not need to be divided and can be left undisturbed for years. Fertilize once a year.
