This plant literally explodes into a summer landscape with masses of 4" to 10" long cone-shaped flowers in dark purple shades from July through September. Adding to this color are the clouds of butterflies these flowers attract while open. Extremely fast growing and fountain-shaped, it is best treated as a woody perennial and cut back in the winter to ensure the new growth that will hold the summer's flowers.

Prune in early spring down to 12-15" size to rejuvenate. Clip spent flowers to encouage rebloom. Thrives in full to part sun and most soils.
