This dense, compact plant takes up very little garden space but makes up for it with enough flower power to make it seem three times its size. Deep green foliage densely fills out short, upright stems forming a rounded, spreading clump in the garden that tops itself with flower spikes in June. These flower spikes extend 3 to 4" above the foliage and reveal profuse numbers of small, deep blue flowers that continue to bloom into August. 'Royal Candles' is a cinch to grow requiring full sun and well-drained soil and a little deadheading of past blooms to prolong the flowering period. It's a great plant to group in numbers toward the front of a planting to put on a huge, deep blue summer show.

Shear lightly after bloom to encourage fresh foliage and possibly repeat flowering in the fall. Grow in average, well-drained soil in full sun. Good soil drainage, particularly in winter, is essential.
