Capitata has a strong pyramidal form with dark green foliage. An excellent hedge or topiary evergreen with emerald green new growth in spring that contrasts well against the dark green needles. The female plants produce fruit that attracts birds. Tolerates shade and is considered to be one of the best of the needled evergreens for shady conditions.

Easily grown in average, well-drained soils in full sun to part shade. Does not like wet conditions. Prune in early summer to control the size and promote plant density.
