A clump-forming perennial with dark green grass-like foliage and dark purple flower spikes rising above the foliage. Prefers full sun to light shade in moist, fertile soils. Tolerant of dry, sunny areas. Mow high with a sharp blade in early spring before new growth begins. Outstanding ground cover for sun or shade. Almost indestructible in the landscape.
