Eupatorium fistulosum is a bold and beautiful native perennial that brings height, color, and wildlife interest to the garden. It produces large, dome-shaped clusters of fragrant, pinkish-purple blooms from mid-summer into early fall. Its nectar-rich flowers are a magnet for butterflies, bees, and other pollinators, while the seed heads provide food for birds through winter. With sturdy, hollow stems and whorled green leaves, Joe Pye weed adds both structure and movement to the landscape.

Joe-Pye Weed thrives in full sun to partial shade and moist, rich soil. Keep soil evenly moist and mulch to conserve water. Cut back stems in early summer for a bushier shape and in fall or spring for cleanup, or leave them standing for wildlife. Divide clumps occasionally to manage size and enjoy its tall, pollinator-friendly blooms year after year.
