The foliage color of this selection will floor you! While all other Calycanthus have green leaves, this selection shows off purple foliage that you can't keep your eyes off! Maroon flowers appear in June with a sweet summer scent. These red flowers are a favorite for pollinators and butterflies. In the fall, the dark purple foliage changes to orange, yellow, and cherry red hues. The selection was made in 2011 by Richard Hesselein and Daryl Kobesky of Allentown, N.J. from a “sport” on a branch.
Thrives in full sun. Feed yearly with an organic fertilizer. Prune in early summer after bloom to shorten or shape.
