Plastic has become a significant part of our industry, and PCF is making a consistent effort to lessen our dependence on plastics and aiming to become more environmentally friendly. We've collaborated with customers in ME, VT, and CT to gather and recycle plastic nursery containers while continuing to recycle all our greenhouse plastics. As such, we have been exploring methods to reduce plastic in our containers and we believe the ECO Container has real potential! This spring, we’ve experimented with growing a small amount of native plants using an air-pruned plug coupled with a waxed paper sleeve; resulting in successfully reducing plastic by an impressive 96% compared to a traditional container!
We are excited to share this ECO container with you and would love any performance feedback you might have- whether it’s “OMG this is the best thing ever”, “Yikes, here’s some suggestions…”, or anything in between!

During our ongoing green efforts, we have been exploring various ways to reduce plastic in our containers and we think the ECO container has real potential. We started a trial this spring using an air-pruned plug along with a and we are excited to report the successful pots.
